Hi friends,
It's been a while since our last newsletter. :)
I've been reflecting on the concept of 'enough,' and I wanted to share some thoughts in this edition.
For centuries, humans found solace in the communities they lived in, adhering to familiar customs and traditions. However, as globalization and the internet have connected us across the globe, we've had to adapt to various communities and adjust ourselves accordingly. In this modern world, we often find ourselves presenting different versions of ourselves in different spaces—what we share on LinkedIn differs from what we share on Instagram; what we post on TikTok may not be suitable for Facebook. We navigate through these multiple identities, sacrificing our true essence for the sake of fitting into various communities. And in today's virtual reality, the struggle to connect is compounded by our constant pursuit of more—more friends, more possessions, more posts, more likes. We exist in a world of excess, inundated with endless information, entertainment, and stimuli.
Yet, despite our efforts, we still wrestle with feeling 'enough.' We constantly compare our achievements, aspirations, and material wealth to those of strangers on the other side of the world whom we've never met or may never meet again. Their lives always seem more fulfilling, more enticing. We're trapped in a cycle of inadequacy, always feeling like we fall short. Centuries ago this wouldn’t have been the case because our realities would have been limited to those around us. While globalization and the internet have widened our horizons, urging us to know more of the world, it has come with the cost to self. In such a world, it is even more important to understand what constitutes enough for us.
Have I ever truly felt 'enough'? Yes. During days spent in meditation retreats, or in moments immersed in love and nature—sitting by the ocean, waking up to the sweet melody of birdsong—those were the times when I felt complete.
It's fascinating to contemplate what truly matters and what brings us that sense of fulfillment.
Love and hugs,
Muskan
📝 Life Updates
Work has presented some challenges lately due to changes in leadership, which have consumed much of my thoughts. Transitioning from feeling a sense of belonging to uncertainty has been daunting, especially in a remote setup. I'm grateful for the support and kindness many of you have extended during this time. I'm still navigating this situation, especially given the complexities of being an international professional and the current market conditions. Keep me in your prayers, and if you come across any exciting opportunities in London, please let me know.
Ramadan was both beautiful and challenging this year. I felt a deep connection to the universe, and saying goodbye to the month left me feeling a bit melancholic.
I recently spent a few days in Paris, celebrating love and indulging in some delightful pastries and cheeses.
